This inhibition leads to the stabilization of the DNA-gyrase complex, preventing the release of the DNA strands and ultimately causing bacterial cell death. Ciprofloxacin selectively targets bacterial DNA gyrase, which is structurally different from human topoisomerase enzymes, thus minimizing adverse effects on human cells. By disrupting the bacterial DNA synthesis process, Ciprofloxacin effectively halts the growth and proliferation of susceptible bacteria.
