Dexamethasone in the Ofloxacin-Dexamethasone combination eye drop acts as a potent anti-inflammatory agent. It belongs to the corticosteroid class of drugs and exerts its effects by binding to cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors. Upon binding, the activated receptor-drug complex translocates to the nucleus, where it regulates gene expression by inducing the synthesis of anti-inflammatory proteins and suppressing the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. This results in the reduction of inflammation, vasodilation, leukocyte infiltration, and edema associated with various ocular conditions.
