Description

Ferinject is an intravenous iron replacement therapy containing ferric carboxymaltose, used for the treatment of iron deficiency when oral iron preparations are ineffective, cannot be used, or when there is a clinical need to deliver iron rapidly. Each mL of this sterile, dark brown, non-transparent aqueous solution contains 50 mg of elemental iron. It is supplied in a single-dose vial and must only be administered by healthcare professionals trained to evaluate and manage anaphylactic reactions, in an environment where full resuscitation facilities are available.

  • Rapid Iron Repletion: Quickly corrects iron deficiency and increases hemoglobin levels when oral iron is ineffective or cannot be used
  • Single-Dose Convenience: Allows for complete iron repletion in as few as one or two doses, reducing the need for multiple hospital visits

Composition
Each 10 ml vial contains:

  • 500 mg iron (as ferric carboxymaltose) in water for injection
  • Also contains sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid to adjust pH
