Piozer is an oral anti-diabetic medication. Pioglitazone thiazolidinedione monohydrochloride contains one asymmetric carbon and the compound is synthesized and used as the racemic mixture.
This medicine is used in the management of type 2 diabetes particularly in overweight patients. It works by helping to restore your body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and decreases intestinal absorption of glucose.
Composition
Each film coated tablet contains:
- Pioglitazone Hydrochloride: 15 mg
- Metformin HCL(extended release): 500 mg
