Lamisil 250 mg Tablets contain Terbinafine, a powerful broad‑spectrum antifungal agent that belongs to the allylamine class of antifungals. It works by specifically inhibiting squalene epoxidase, an enzyme essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This disrupts the cell membrane, leading to the death of the fungus.

Lamisil is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of fungal infections where oral therapy is considered appropriate due to the site, severity or extent of the infection, including:

  • Onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) caused by dermatophyte fungi
  • Tinea capitis (scalp ringworm)
  • Fungal infections of the skin, including Tinea corporis (ringworm), Tinea cruris (jock itch), and Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
  • Yeast infections of the skin caused by the genus Candida (e.g., Candida albicans)
